First Day Back

On our first day of Term 4, we spent some time working on lots of new activities to help us to explore our
AMAZING LIVING WORLD.
We asked questions about the things on our Tutu Table.
We looked at the way living things are grouped.
We explored SAME but DIFFERENT.
We sorted living things by using
VENN DIAGRAMS.

Asking when... what... where... why... how... questions about things on our Tutu Table.

SAME but DIFFERENT... how can that be?

Using VENN DIAGRAMS to compare living things.

Learning about the ways in which living things are grouped.  What is an amphibian?
What is a reptile?  What is a mammal?

Making Hats

Learning About Shape

This week we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.
D means dimensional.
We made hats from 2D and 3D shapes.
These photos show how we made them.

Topic Inquiry

This is our Topic Inquiry wall.  Can you work out what we are learning about this term?

What have we been doing?

Here we go...

It's Thursday morning.  We've just had morning tea, and we're all sitting on the carpet ready to start out first blog.

So what should we show you first?

Well... a lot has happened in our first week back. Let's have a look...

We had a visit from Lucas the turtle.
He walked round our room, looking for somewhere quiet to sleep.

We made shapes hats because we are learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  We chose our own shapes to decorate our hats.

We wrote about our hats and have published some already!

We have been learning about what animals can do, from our shared books.

But first, we should tell you more about our Topic Inquiry for this term...

Welcome to Term 4

Welcome to Term 4... our final term of 2014!
This term the Key Competency for learners is MANAGING SELF, and to help students in Room 10 to achieve their goals, they are going to be planning and making decisions about what goes onto their class blog.
They will be taking photographs, writing messages and articles... to make their contributions to a fantastic blog to share with whanau and the community.
